Computer Lecture @ UNL - March 11th, 1983

A bit of context

On July 1st, 2022 I visited an estate sale in Lincoln, NE. The guy who owned all of the stuff seemed to be some kind of businessman, lots of books on finances and a bunch of productivty software like Quicken. One thing that immediatly stuck out to me was an IBM Portable Personal Computer for just $20. I absolutely bought it as I figured it would be a great addition to my Compaq Portable 1. but after I bought it I was stuck waiting for my mom to finish going through everything. While I was waiting I looked through the box of Compact Cassette tapes in one of the bedrooms, and found three perfect condition 1982-84 TDK D Type I tapes (Two D90 tapes and one D60) stacked on top of each other. Two of them were labled 1 through 4, and the side 1 label immediatly jumped out at me:

COMPUTER LECTURE UNL - 11 MAR 83

I bought them immediatly. They were marked as $1 a piece, but the people running the sale sold them all to me for $1. I didn't have a decent cassette player, so after I got home I went to The Gameroom on O Street and bought a Sanyo RD5006 for $39, just because it was the only tested and working cassette player they had.

So, without further ado, here's the tapes. The two D90 tapes have been condensed into one file, with each of the four sides seperated by a 440Hz tone. The second file contains Side A of the D60 tape which is not labled in any way. The D60 tape does not appear to contain anything on Side B. The D60 tape is a seperate file because it seems to be from the same conference or whatever, but it's clearly a different lecture at a different time.
