A fanstastic adventure in vinyl records

Here's another text dump to avoid flodding IRC.

This thought has been in the back of my mind for years now, but the first record player I ever used was so busted that the 45 RPM setting wasn't much faster than what 33 1/3 RPM should have been. Silly me, not knowing what each record should be spun at played The Best Of Eddy Arnold at 45 RPM, because even though it was an LP he actually sounded like a real person at that speed. Now that I have a proper, working record player I've gone back and listened to that record again. The problem is now he actually sounds way too deep, like to my ears he doesn't sound like a regular person. The song I remember the most listening to the record in that state is What's He Doin' In My World, so I ripped that song and sped it up to what I remember it sounding like at 45RPM. Tell me this doesn't sound like a real recording:

Yeah, I bet if you had someone who had never heard Eddy Arnold listen to that clip they would automatically assume that had not been tampered with. And in case you're wondering, I sped the recording up to 111% of it's original speed.

Well, no matter. I'm just saying this because I had no reason not to, so, there you are. Take care, and carry on.
