I've started going to the local library recently as that's now an easily accessable location for me, and while I don't read that many books I do spend a lot of time looking through their microfiche archive of the local newspaper (The Hastings Tribubne). Here's a few things I have found. No thumbnails for these, only text descriptions.
A couple important things to note, first of all the dates given refer to the print date of the newspaper the image was pulled from, in the case of advertisements this is NOT the date they were first ran. Secondly, these are all PNG files, so expect nightmarish load times :|
